About WM²

We explain money so that after reading you can run the numbers and act.

What WM² is

WM² - Wise Money Squared is a personal finance project from Ukraine. We write about budgeting, loans, savings and investing, and build calculators that show the full picture rather than a single number: what the result is made of and how it changes over time. The main version of the site is in Ukrainian; this English version covers the same articles and calculators.

The ² in the name is a nod to compound interest, when money earns not only on your deposits but also on what it has already earned. Hence our slogan: money that multiplies.

Our examples use Ukrainian hryvnias (UAH) and Ukrainian rules: taxes, deposit guarantees and government bonds. The principles and formulas work in any currency.

How we prepare our articles

  • Calculations you can check. Every example in our articles is calculated and verified, and the calculator formulas are covered by tests on reference examples.
  • Official sources. We take rates, limits and taxes from the websites of the National Bank of Ukraine, the Ministry of Finance, the State Tax Service, the Deposit Guarantee Fund and regulators. If there is no official source, we do not quote specific figures.
  • Dates on every article. Financial terms change, so we show the publication date and, after a review or edits, the update date.
  • No promises of profit. We do not promote “guaranteed” ways to make money and do not urge readers into specific deals.
  • Human editing. Every text is edited and checked by a person before publication.

The WM² team

Our articles are prepared by Oleksandr Suhak (editor) and Andrii Kolisnyk (analyst). How we work and check the numbers is described on the “Editorial team” page. If you notice a mistake or an outdated figure, we want to know: we correct errors and update the article's review date.
