Earnings coefficient: what it means

The earnings coefficient is the ratio of your wage to the Ukrainian average over your working years; one of three multipliers in the pension formula.

The individual earnings coefficient shows how many times higher or lower your wage on which insurance contributions were paid was compared with the national average wage in Ukraine. The Pension Fund calculates it for every month since 1 July 2000 and then averages it.

A coefficient of 1 means a wage at the average level, 2 means twice the average. A person on the minimum wage has a coefficient of only about 0.35, because in April 2026 the average wage on which contributions were paid was UAH 25,001.55.

An old-age pension equals the average wage indicator (UAH 17,482.87 for pensions granted in 2026) multiplied by the earnings coefficient and by the record at 1% a year. So the wage affects the pension at least as much as the number of years worked.
