Bank metals are gold, silver, platinum and platinum-group metals of the highest purity in certified bars or powder, plus coins made of precious metals.

Bank metals are gold, silver, platinum and platinum-group metals of the highest purity, made as bars or powder with a quality certificate, as well as coins made of precious metals. Under Ukrainian law they count as currency values.

Bank metals are bought from a bank as bars and coins or without cash, into a metal account. Since 11 August 2026 individuals can buy non-cash metals within the same NBU monthly limit of UAH 200,000 as non-cash currency.

According to the State Tax Service, income from selling bank metals bought from a bank is subject to neither personal income tax nor military levy. This exemption does not automatically apply to jewellery and household items made of precious metals.
