IBAN: what it means

An IBAN is an international bank account number; a Ukrainian IBAN starts with UA and has 29 characters.

IBAN (International Bank Account Number) is an international bank account number in a single format. A Ukrainian IBAN starts with UA, has 29 characters and already contains the bank code, so the account can be identified unambiguously.

An IBAN is needed for account transfers within Ukraine and for receiving money from abroad. A currency transfer needs an account in that currency: the IBAN of a hryvnia account is not suitable for dollars or euros. You can find your IBAN in the bank's app under the account details.
